Vibrant Spring Garden Party Wedding at the Avenue

Cadyn and Josh

Greenville, South Carolina

Cadyn and Josh’s wedding took place on a gorgeous bright and sunny Spring day in Downtown Greenville, South Carolina at the Avenue.

When Cadyn and I chatted through her floral consultation she described wanting the feel for her day to be modern, colorful and most importantly garden party-inspired. With the inspiration images she provided and my unique design style, I was thrilled to bring her dream to life. The result was a captivating blend of lush, modern, and colorful florals with tropical accents, perfectly complementing the overall aesthetic of the wedding.

The ceremony took place on the rooftop terrace that had lush greenery as the backdrop and breathtaking views of downtown Greenville. To make the most out of her budget, we lined the ceremony aisle with lush arrangements that we repurposed after the ceremony as the reception table centerpieces. Florals featured were hydrangeas, orchids, ranunculus, allium, poppies, anthurium, delphinium, roses, and oncidium.

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We met through my best friend and his childhood friend. We were friends for a while before we got together, but we fell in love during the pandemic. We spent the days walking empty Charleston streets together and we knew pretty immediately we were in it forever. Together we have two cats and we live in Charleston, SC. We got engaged in 2022 at Christmastime in New York. Josh is the Sous Chef at Zero George in Charleston and I work in Music Marketing.

Why did you decide to get married where you did?

We started with the garden party idea. We looked for Charleston venues that could accommodate that and our budget, but they were either booked out for the next two years (truly) or not quite what we were looking for. My parents live in Greenville and Josh grew up there, so it seemed like an attainable destination that felt like home. Avenue was the only choice for us, as far as we were concerned. We loved that they had a rooftop garden and that the food was so good! We knew our florals would shine with the city backdrop, a mixture of everything we love.

Tell us about your outfits.

I found my dress after trying a few different stores. I got it from New York Bride & Groom in Charlotte, NC. It was the only one that I cried in, and I loved that it had a touch of vintage flair and incorporated florals. Josh wore green because it’s his favorite color, and the shade we landed on complimented the flowers perfectly. The pocket boutonniere was a must.

What was the most important aspect for you, in terms of planning your wedding?

Because it was a garden party, I knew the florals had to be the focus. We didn’t do a lot of other decor because we wanted them to shine. We also really wanted to have beautiful photos to remember everything with, so that was a big focus as well.

Were there any elements that were important for you to incorporate?

Lots of color! And unique touches that felt like us. I really wanted to use parasol umbrellas, and I’m glad I did. It blocked the sun for guests and looked really cute!

Any tips for couples getting married?

Don’t do anything you don’t feel like you need. If you’re on the fence, you probably won’t care about it on your wedding day! Also, surround yourself with all your favorite people and you’ll never have any regrets.

Are there any vendors that you would like to tell us a little more about?

Eden Rose Florals (Kris) took our vision and made it even better, adding her own creative touch and working with us to make our floral dreams come true. She came up with solutions to keep us within budget and make it all work for us, without sacrificing the initial vision. I was speechless on the wedding day when I saw the florals for the first time, they truly were even better than I could have ever imagined. They MADE the wedding aesthetic, and everyone could not stop commenting on them! Kris is the kind of vendor you want on your side, creative, understanding, and tenacious. She will see your vision and make it into a masterpiece.

Evan Taylor Studio Photography (Evan Lewis) made our day so special. He has a natural creative eye and I could tell he was getting great shots, but I almost didn’t even notice he was there. He let us live out our day happily while getting amazing photos.

Also, Table 301 Catering! We’re food lovers, so we knew we wanted our food to be better than the average wedding food. It did not disappoint. Our tasting was a private lunch for me, Josh, and my parents. It really added to our experience!
